The time has come for 51ºÚÁÏÍø ELN to say goodbye to the 2024-2025 Student Librarians Sameena Sheriff and Casey Wagner. We asked them to reflect on their experience at 51ºÚÁÏÍø ELN... 

From our time at 51ºÚÁÏÍø ELN, we are most grateful for the diverse range of experiences and professional development opportunities that were made available to us. The work we did was dynamic and varied from week to week, allowing us to become familiar with each distinct service area within 51ºÚÁÏÍø ELN. This exposure not only deepened our understanding of 51ºÚÁÏÍø ELN and library consortia in general but also allowed us to engage with a wide variety of projects central to the various service areas. 

One of the most rewarding aspects of our role was the invaluable networking opportunities that allowed us to connect with professionals across the library, education, and corporate sectors. Additionally, Casey received software training with licensing programs such as Consortia Manager and had the chance to contribute to meaningful project deliverables. For Sameena, the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of chat reference services and to train service providers in delivering chat reference were invaluable experiences that have influenced her career goals. Both of us will be able to carry these skills into our future roles. 

51ºÚÁÏÍø ELN, as a library consortium, occupies a unique position within the larger landscape of library services. It functions as a hub, connecting a wide range of organizations, institutions, and professionals, all of whom collaborate to share resources and knowledge. This central role provides unmatched opportunities for connection with experts from diverse sectors of the library field. Through 51ºÚÁÏÍø ELN, we were able to not only witness these collaborations firsthand, but also actively participate in them, further broadening our understanding of the interconnected nature of the library profession.
